2023年3月の相鉄新横浜線・東急新横浜線の開業により、東急目黒線を含む三田線利用者の増加が見込まれることから混雑緩和のため8両編成化する方針が決まり、多様な環境および質の高いサービスを提供するため、6300形以来22年ぶりに導入される車両である。 編成 8両編成 軌間 1,067 mm 電気方式 直流1,500 V（架空電車線方式） 最高運転速度 110 km/h 設計最高速度 120 km/h 起動加速度 3.3 km/h/s 減速度（常用） 3.5 km/h/s 減速度（非常） 4.5 km/h/s
