保康县

保康县地处湖北省西北部，东依古襄阳、西连神农架、北交武当山、南接大三峡，系湖北省鄂西生态文化旅游圈核心区。全县版图面积3225平方公里，辖11个乡镇、1个开发区、257个村、19个社区，总人口28.2万。 保康于明朝弘治十一年（公元1498年）建县，是楚国源头和早期楚文化发祥地。据史书记载：周成王时（公元前1042年），封熊绎于荆山，为楚子，居丹阳（今保康重阳）。公元前689年，楚文王移都江陵。楚国800多年历史在保康有350多年。
