2020年，一名中国科学家在南水北调工程西线工程附近发现了一种新的血吸虫。经研究，这种血吸虫是北方罕见的埃及血吸虫和日本血吸虫杂交的产物，而南水北调工程将这两种血吸虫的基因交换变为可能。这种新的血吸虫被命名为中华血吸虫 (S. haematobium × japonicum)。但没有人知道，这种兼具两种血吸虫致命基因的新物种，能够轻而易举地引发一场灾难……
